Double Red Flag Conditions for Area Beaches

126071

The rain may have cleared out but it has left us rough surf and very strong rip currents. We remain on double red flags in Panama City Beach, South Walton and Destin, Fla., which means the water is closed for swimming. If you enter the water under double red flag conditions, you run the risk of endangering yourself and the lives of emergency personnel. Therefore, the local sheriff's departments will be issuing citations and fines for those who do not comply.

Even if you're the strongest swimmer, it is extremely difficult to escape the incredible strength of these currents, which rush out to sea between the break in the sand bar. We want to make sure all our guests have a safe and enjoyable visit to the beach and we strongly encourage you to pay close attention to the flag warning system and heed all warnings.

In the meantime, you are still welcome to enjoy the beach, the sand and the pool.  Looking to stay cool? Head indoors for shopping at Destin Commons or Silver Sands Premium Outlets or enjoy a movie at the new Grand Boulevard 10 or Destin Common AMC.

Know before you go! Click here for current flag conditions or have conditions sent you daily on your mobile phone by texting "Safety" to 67463.
