What's New at Eggs on the Beach EggFest, Sept 24

The  3rd Annual Eggs on the Beach  EggFest will return to Seascape Resort this weekend! On Sept. 24, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., more than 30 Big Green Eggs will be fired up and teams will be cooking and serving samples of their best recipes for a chance to win cash and prizes. The cooking competition benefits two local non-profits--the Fisher House of the Emerald Coast and Food For Thought. Here's what's new at the 2016 Eggs on the Beach Cooking Competition:

More Cook Teams.

The 2016 competition of foods cooked on the Big Green Egg will feature samples from more than 30 cook teams. Cook teams will be competing in one of two categories—main event and non-profit. Teams will be bringing their “A” game as they compete for taster votes and chance to win a donation to their charity or a large Big Green Egg.

Celebrity Judges.

Teams appreciate hearing from the professionals so Eggs on the Beach will welcome a panel of celebrity judges to rank each cook team’s culinary creations. Honorary judges for the 2016 event, include Chef Tim Creehan of Cuvee Restaurants, Lucy Buffett of LuLu’s restaurants, Susan Benton of 30aeats.com and Pat Embree, KCBS certified BBQ judge. The Judges Choice winner will be awarded the grand trophy and ultimate bragging rights.

Enhanced Kids Zone.

This family-friendly event will feature a kids zone with face painting, cold treats and games. Abrakadoodle will return with their popular face painting station. New this year, the “Pop Stop” will feature cold treats. Games including Corn Hole and Ladder Golf will be set up for added entertainment. In addition, Sno Cones will be on sale with a portion of proceeds benefiting the charity partners. (Kids 12 and under must be accompanied by a parent).

New Sports Zone.

This is the south and college sports take priority. The new Sports Zone, sponsored by ENCO Electronics, will feature a big screen television so tasters can stop in and catch the scores of the top college games.

Eggs on the Beach will also feature live music by Chris Alvarado, a charity raffle, and a cash bar with beer, wine and sodas. All proceeds raised benefit the Fisher House of the Emerald Coast, providing a “home away from home” for military families during medical treatment, and Food For Thought, fighting food insecurity among students in Walton and Okaloosa counties.

Eggs on the Beach will take place at Seascape Resort rain or shine from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 24. Advance tickets are $25/adult and $13/child (age 13-17); Kids 12 and under are free. Tickets will be available at the gate for $35. Learn more and purchase taster tickets at EggsontheBeach.com.
