Props Brewery Introduces 6-Pack Cans

Props Brewery WWI Propeller

In honor of National Beer Lover’s Day, we’re celebrating more of our favorite local breweries along the Emerald Coast. We’re a big fan of Props Brewery in Fort Walton Beach and are excited to share that they have started packaging their Flying Coffin IPA in six packs of 12 oz cans. Since glass is prohibited on Destin’s beaches, this is the perfect way to enjoy a local brew on the beach. They are for sale at the brewery as well as at select package stores in Fort Walton Beach, Crestview, Pensacola, Niceville, Destin, and Panama City areas.

Props Brewery is located just over the Brooks Bridge in Fort Walton Beach. Founded in 2011, Props was a local pioneer in the craft beer movement.  Founded by Mike Kee and Nathan Vannatter, who were transferred to the 6th Special Operations Squadron at Hurlburt Field six years ago, Props Brewery was born and has been expanding ever since.

The first beer Props introduced was the Four Kings, a traditional American brown ale. Aptly named after Nathan’s family, who for four generations has made “King” their middle name, Four Kings is brewed using caramel malts, which give it a slight caramel flavor and strong brown color. Next, the founders added the Flying Coffin IPA. This IPA is named in honor of the 39th Airlift Squadron whose original patch that was designed as a winged coffin. While the patch design was originally rejected, the craft beer remains popular today. Created using caramel malt and 2-row malts, the Flying Coffin IPA is brewed with Chinook hops and dry hopped for an extra kick and is recognized for its a golden red color and aromatic bouquet.

One of their biggest sellers is the Blonde Bomber, a sweet combination of Nugget hops and mild Mt. Hood hops. A light, yet medium bodied ale, Blonde Bomber is available in four pack 16 oz. cans as well as draught. In addition, their Four Kings Brown Ale and Flying Coffin IPA are on draught in bars and restaurants from Pensacola to the Apalachicola River.

Over the past five years, Props Brewery has grown to include more than a dozen signature and seasonal beers, including Prop Oil Porter, Luckey O’Neill Vienna Lager, Twin Props Double IPA, are annual craft ales, while the Ghost rider Stout, Hefeweizen, Back Alley “Pail” Ale, Rye of Tiger, Ocktober Fest, Black Widow IPA, Inara’s Strawberry Blonde, and Jovie Ale (Christmas beer), among others.

With its aviation-theme, Props Brew Pub features an original Carter Transport Plane propeller from WWII, and honors aviation history and the many active military serving at one of three local bases in the area. The menu features creative selections, ranging from the signature handmade Buffalo Mac & Cheese and hand cut fries to classic chicken wings.  To learn more visit, propsbrewery.com.
