Top Reasons to Celebrate Labor Day in Destin

Don’t let summer slip away without a beach vacation (or two). You deserve a Labor Day beach getaway! Did you know that the average employee in the U.S. works 47 hours per week and 40% of employees report working 50 or more hours per week? If that’s not enough to convince you that you deserve a break, here are a few reasons to plan a Labor Day getaway to Destin:

To Relax.

The beach is the perfect place to rest and relax. Lounging on the sugar white sand beaches listening to the waves lap the shore is a great way to recharge your batteries. (and if you stay home, you’ll just end up doing chores.)

To Dine Overlooking the Gulf.

It is more fun to eat fresh Gulf seafood at the beach. Whether you select a climate controlled setting such as Vue on 30A or have the option of indoor or outdoor at popular restaurants including The Beach House (Sandestin), Bud & Alley’s (Seaside), The Back Porch (Destin), Brotula’s Seafood House & Steamer (Destin), Dewey Destin’s, Jackacuda’s (Destin), or The Gulf (Okaloosa Island) o name a few, eating lunch or dinner at one of the famed Destin restaurants is always fun. Consider trying one of South Walton's new Gulf-view restaurants, including Shunk Gulley Oyster Bar on 30A or Chiringo in Grayton Beach

To Be Entertained at Labor Day Events in Destin.

  • 24th Annual Greek Festival (Aug. 31 - Sept. 2) features a variety of authentic Greek foods, pastries, wine, live music and spectacular Greek dance performances. Held at the Emerald Coast Convention Center on Okaloosa Island, visitors will feel like they traveled to Greece for a day.

To Be Pampered

Since Labor Day is about rewarding yourself for working hard year round, make it count by enjoying a spa service (or two) at one of Destin's Spas. Whether you enjoy the incredible views and stellar services offered at the new Salmander Spa at The Henderson or return for a favorite service at Serenity by the sea, you'll be glad you took time to pamper yourself on vacation.
