Girls Just Want to Have Fun and Go Fishing

Destin has long been named “THE LUCKIEST FISHING VILLAGE IN THE WORLD” and each October it hosts the Destin Fishing Rodeo. The entire month of October brings experienced fisherman along with newbies to our waters to catch a prize. 

Recently, one of Newman-Dailey's top real estate agents, Diane Green, wondered "why do the guys always have all the fishing fun? Why not have JUST female anglers try their luck?"

So Diane and her friends did just that! Here's what she shared: 

"Ten women, all locals, together using their skills searched for 8 hours for that one fish. We learned that 6 am comes early, but when you pull away from the dock and the sun is coming up from the horizon, you forget the time and simply feel blessed to be in Destin and heading off shore for the day. We hired a local fishing vessel, which is docked at the Destin Harbor. 

What is included: The fee covers fuel, fishing licenses and equipment, bait and first mates. They tend to all the “dirty” work including baiting the hook and helping anyone who is inexperienced. 

What to bring:  Good food, cocktails, and plenty of suntan lotion.  

What you get: Great memories, calming effects of being out on the water and the hopes of a great fish dinner."
