First and foremost, we would like to honor and thank ALL active and retired military members for your dedication and service. We enjoy so many freedoms due to your service. From all of us at Newman-Dailey, we send a BIG heartfelt “Thank you!”

We are looking forward to welcoming our extended family of guests from around the country to spend time relaxing and reconnecting along our shores. We know some of you have questions regarding your upcoming stay so we’ve done our best to highlight answers for the most frequently asked questions regarding Memorial Day in Destin:

Are there special events taking place for Memorial Day Weekend?

Yes. Destin and surrounding areas have a variety of special events planned for the Memorial Day Weekend. HarborWalk Village overlooking the Destin Harbor will be hosting a Memorial Day Concert Celebration. On Saturday, the John Hart Project will perform from 7-9 p.m. On Sunday at 4:30 p.m. Flash Flood will perform, followed by DEPARTURE: The Journey Tribute Band. At 9 p.m., there will be fireworks followed by firespinning from Just Add Fire. Click here to see all the fun “Things to Do” at HarborWalk Village.

At Sandestin’s Village of Baytowne Wharf, there will a Memorial Day Celebration at the Village all weekend. On Saturday, enjoy live music by Farewell Angelina from 7-9 p.m. Sunday is family fun day with Kids Games from 6-9 p.m. and live music by Coconut Radio in addition to the Baytowne Adventure Zone and carousel. On Sunday along Scenic Highway 30-A in Gulf Place, The Emerald Band will perform a free concert on the Green from 6-8 p.m.

How will the weather impact our visit?

While we cannot predict the weather, the National Weather Service is expecting a tropical depression to form this weekend in the Gulf. It is not predicted to be a major storm and it may never even reach our shores. We recommend being prepared for all types of weather—hats and sunblock for the sunny days and umbrellas, games and books for the not so sunny ones. Click here for weather.com updates or view our local weather on WJGH (Panama City Beach) or WEAR (Pensacola).

If it rains, what is there to do in Destin?

We’re glad you asked. There are lots of fun attractions and activities in and around Destin to keep your family entertained. From movies and rock climbing to making art and meeting the animal ambassadors at the Gulfarium, your family may be surprised at how much Destin has to offer beyond the beach. Learn more, by reading our things to do on a rainy day blog.

We don’t have kids. Are there adult activities?

If you like craft beer, we suggest a Destin brewery tour. Here along Florida’s Emerald Coast we have a growing number of micro-breweries making some great local craft beer. Local Breweries including Destin Brewery, Props Brewery, Idyll Hounds and Grayton Beer, which recently opened a new “brew pub” in Grayton Beach. Click here to read our blog on Destin breweries.

Did you say Free?

Yes. The Newman-Dailey virtual gift card entitles guests to FREE movie rentals and a free adult pass daily to a variety of activities. Click here to see what is included with the Newman-Dailey gift card as well as discounts and partner offers featured through our Be Free Bundle.

What about Shopping?

Yes, shopping is a great idea while visiting Destin. With Silver Sands Premium Outlets filled with great savings at 100+ designer factory outlet stores as well as Grand Boulevard, Destin Commons and Market Shops at Sandestin, there is no shortage of fabulous new finds. So if watching the rain has you down, shopping for a great new find is sure to lift your spirits. Be sure to ask our team at check in for a Silver Sands VIP Voucher to get a savings passport to SAVE even more!

Beach Safety - Know before you go.

Inclement weather can impact surf conditions. It is important that you and your family and friends know the meaning of the flag colors and abide by the flag warning system. It is critical to know that RED FLAG means high surf and strong currents. Beachgoers should use EXTREME caution entering the water on red flag days. Knee deep may be too deep as dangerous rip currents may form at any time. DOUBLE RED FLAG means the water is closed for swimming for your safety. Visit SWFD.org to view today’s conditions.
