South Walton’s Ultimate Wine Weekend, April 28-May1

South Walton is definitely where you’d rather be the last weekend of April if you love wine, culinary delights, spirits, exclusive trips and more. South Walton becomes the epicenter of the wine world, as the South Walton Beaches Wine & Food Festival and Destin Charity Wine Auction bring together a dazzling roster of more than a dozen celebrity winemakers, brew masters, distillers, chefs and entertainers.

These celebrity guests come together in Miramar Beach, Fla. to wine, dine, educate, and entertain all for a great cause. The four-day celebration is not only seriously fun, but it also raises critical funds for 14 local non-profits, helping children in need in Northwest Florida.  In fact, the Destin Charity Auction is ranked among the “Top 10 Charity Wine Auctions” in the United States by Wine Spectator Magazine, raising $2.3 million for charity partners in 2015.

Held in Grand Boulevard at Sandestin, the South Walton Beaches Wine & Food Festival, April 28 – May 1, features more than 800 wines, celebrity winemakers, the Savor South Walton Culinary Village, tasting seminars, live entertainment, Spirits Row and Champagne Lane. The star-studded lineup of 2016 celebrity winemakers includes wine superstars Cristina Mariani-May of Castello Banfi Vintners and Pomerol Powerhouse Ronan Laborde of Chateau Clinet, among others.

On Friday night, the Craft Beer & Spirits Jam will kick off the weekend and feature food and beverage industry “celebrities” representing some of the hottest breweries and happening distilleries from across the country, pouring more than 100 different kinds of specialty craft beers and spirits. 

In conjunction with the festival, Destin Charity Wine Auction features Friday night patron dinners pairing celebrity chefs with winemakers for an intimate evening in private homes and restaurants throughout South Walton. On Saturday, the Auction kicks off at 3 p.m. featuring exclusive wine-themed trips, one-of-kind experiences and rare wines. This year DCWAF will honor Ric Forman of Forman Vineyards as its 2016 honorary vintner and Cristina Mariani-May of Castello Banfi Vintners as the 2016 international honorary vintner.
