YOLO "You Only Live Once"
In keeping with our theme of staying cool, today we're highlighting another "cool" local watersport-
YOLO boarding
. YOLO, an acronym for "You Only Live Once", is a type of stand up paddle board, which was developed by local South Walton residents, Tom Losee and Jeff Archer. The sport has been growing in popularity as have YOLO boards sales and rentals.
Stand up paddling is a great core workout and fun activity that provides an elevated view of the water, ideal for spotting marine life, ranging from fish and sting rays to dolphins and sea turtles.
For those interested in trying the sport during your Destin vacation, YOLO Board Adventures
now offers rentals at three area locations: WaterColor Boathouse on Western Lake off CR 30A, the marina at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort and the Destin Harbor.
For those interested in being a spectator before hopping on a board, YOLO is hosting the 5th Annual Stand Up Paddle
Series
races this week. The relay-style competition begins at 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 19 at the WaterColor Boathouse. Come out and cheer on the racers and we bet you'll be hooked.
